Kaylee's 1st day of school.

Kaylee started a new school year at a new school. She was so excited to start. It was funny, I was fine when we dropped her off, but when I picked her up and saw her playing with the other kids, and she ran to me, and couldn't stop talking, so excited about all the stuff she did...I got a little choked up!

Since I have had kids, I have come to recognize that as a parent, it is sometimes hard to watch my kids grow-up. I know that may sound selfish, and of course deep down I want them to grow-up, but it can be a little sad.

Just like when she first spoke, stopped breastfeeding, walked, or slept through the night! For a small moment it crossed my mind...my little girl is growing up, and needs me just a little less.

So, of course, when I dropped her off, this was going through my mind, and whether I am making all the right decisions. When I picked her up and saw her glowing face, I just wanted to cry because I knew, she was growing up, but that it was time, and the right decision!

She has been every morning this week, which I thought might be too much. Today (Saturday), she woke up and told me that she was sad there was no school today.

So as I have all this going through my mind, my husband was back at home. He took some old scrap pieces of wood from our old fence and threw together this kids bench. It was such a fun surprise. He usually isn't the one to think of those types of things, so it truly was a surprise and the kids loved it! It was one of those days were you stand back and say, I have a really blessed life!

One of the healthiest things you can do for your child is let them become independent. This is Kaylee's first step to independence. The fact she can leave the "nest" and be happy is a sign of how secure she is in herself and her family. Good Job Mommy, as hard as this step is for you this is a wonderful opportunity for your daughter. Kaylee needs to grow into a strong, confident, independent woman. Go Kaylee!
